Conductor vs Profound: Enterprise AI Visibility Platforms Compared (2026)
Conductor vs Profound in 2026: AI engines tracked, how answers are collected, prompt volume, SEO, site monitoring, content agents and plans.

Conductor is an enterprise SEO platform that added AI search tracking. Rank tracking and site monitoring stay in the same product. Profound was built for AI search from day one, and it goes deep on AI answers and AI crawler logs.
One team running SEO and AI search together will get more from Conductor, with rankings and AI answers in one platform. If AI search has its own team, Profound gives you the widest AI data, including prompt volume and shopping results.
Conductor vs Profound: main points
- Conductor covers SEO and AI search. Its plans include tracked keywords, 24/7 site monitoring and a Writing Assistant, plus AI Search Credits on Growth and Enterprise.
- Profound sticks to AI search. It has no Google rank tracking or site crawler, and its plans center on AI answers and AI crawler data.
- Conductor collects answers through each AI engine’s official API. Profound captures them directly from the browser.
- Profound sells AI demand data through Prompt Volumes, which shows what people ask AI. Conductor has no AI search volume metric.
- Neither has a public dollar price. Conductor sells its three plans by quote. Profound sells a custom Enterprise plan and a self serve Agency Growth plan.

What Conductor does today
Conductor is an enterprise SEO and AEO platform. Conductor Intelligence tracks rankings and AI visibility and links them to traffic and conversions. Conductor Creator helps you write and optimize content. Conductor Monitoring watches your site 24/7 for technical issues.
On top of that sits AgentStack, with a Content Agent, a Technical Agent, an MCP server and apps that work inside ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot.
Conductor’s history
Seth Besmertnik and Jeremy HurDuboys founded Conductor in New York City in 2006. By 2018 it had raised more than $60 million.
In March 2018, WeWork bought Conductor. The deal did not last. In December 2019, WeWork sold the company back to its founder, and Conductor became independent again.
Next came a push into site health. In November 2021, Conductor raised $150 million from Bregal Sagemount. In February 2022 it used that money to buy ContentKing, a tool for real time site auditing and monitoring. ContentKing’s tech joined the Conductor platform.
AI search reshaped the product. In June 2025, Conductor launched Conductor AI as the next generation of its platform, built to get brands named in AI answers. It launched Enterprise AgentStack in April 2026. In September 2026, Chief Product Officer Wei Zheng became CEO. Besmertnik moved to the board.

What Profound does today
Profound is an AI visibility platform. Answer Engine Insights tracks how AI engines describe your brand and category, with visibility, share of voice, sentiment and citations. Prompt Volumes shows AI demand, and Agent Analytics reads AI crawler visits from your server logs.
Profound’s AI Marketer and Agents turn that data into briefs and drafts. These runs use credits. Over 700 enterprise brands and large agencies use Profound, among them more than 10% of the Fortune 500.
Profound’s history
James Cadwallader and Dylan Babbs started Profound in New York City in August 2024. The same month brought a $3.5 million seed round backed by Khosla Ventures. Answer Engine Insights was the core product at launch.
The rounds got bigger fast. Kleiner Perkins led a $20 million Series A in June 2025, and Sequoia Capital led a $35 million Series B in August 2025. In February 2026, Lightspeed Venture Partners led a $96 million Series C at a $1 billion valuation. Total funding reached $155 million with that round.
Today Profound covers AI demand and AI bot visits as well as answers. Its newest launch, Profound Agents, writes and shares marketing copy in a brand’s voice. Target and Walmart are among its named customers.
Conductor vs Profound AI engines and data collection
The engine lists nearly match. The way each tool gets its answers does not.
| Feature | Conductor | Profound (Enterprise) |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Yes, Auto and Search | Yes |
| Google AI Overviews and AI Mode | Yes | Yes |
| Gemini | Yes | Yes |
| Perplexity | Yes | Yes |
| Claude | Yes (Sonnet) | Yes |
| Microsoft Copilot | Yes | Yes |
| Grok | Yes | Yes |
| DeepSeek and Exa Search | No | Yes |
Conductor sends each prompt through the official API of the AI engine it supports, as a fresh request with no history. Profound captures its answers directly from the browser.
Browser capture aims to match what a user sees on screen. API calls follow a fixed method you can repeat. Before you sign, get sample answers from each vendor on your own prompts.
Every prompt costs Conductor AI Search Credits, and the rate depends on the engine. Google’s AI results use the fewest credits. Gemini and ChatGPT Search use the most. You can track daily or on a slower schedule, and daily tracking uses more credits. Profound tailors the prompt plan to each Enterprise contract, with daily refresh. For trackers with a public price, see our list of the best LLM tracking tools.
Conductor vs Profound prompt volume and AI demand
Conductor has no AI search volume metric, because it sees no reliable source for one. Profound sells that data as Prompt Volumes, which puts it ahead here.
| Feature | Conductor | Profound |
|---|---|---|
| AI search volume | Not offered | Prompt Volumes, from real user conversations |
| Where prompts come from | Synthetic prompts that mimic your buyer personas | Your tailored prompt plan |
| Search demand | Topic and keyword research based on search data | No |
| History and API | No | Full history and API access on Enterprise |
| On the trial | No | 5 searches |
Prompt Volumes analyzes real user conversations to show what people ask AI about your category. If you plan content around what people ask AI, Profound gives you more to work with. If you plan around Google search demand, Conductor’s keyword data fits that job.
Conductor vs Profound SEO and rank tracking
Profound has no Google rank tracking or keyword research, so Conductor wins this one outright.
| Feature | Conductor | Profound |
|---|---|---|
| Tracked keywords | 500 (Essentials), 5,000 (Growth), 60,000+ (Enterprise) | No |
| Tracked competitors | 5, 25 or 75+, by plan | No |
| Pages analyzed | 1,000, 25,000 or 125,000+, by plan | No |
| AI and classic search side by side | Yes, market share in both | AI search only |
| Traffic and conversions | AI referral traffic with GA4 and Adobe data | Human visits from AI search (Agent Analytics) |
Conductor Intelligence lets you compare your market share in AI and classic search side by side. It also shows AI referral traffic next to engagement and conversions. If you report SEO and AI search in one deck, you can skip a second tool.
If you want keyword research next to AI tracking at a public price, Arrowsterr Organic Search shows the Google top 10 with its AI Overview sources.
Conductor vs Profound site monitoring and AI crawlers
For full technical SEO health, Conductor is the stronger pick. If your main question is which AI bots read which pages, go with Profound.
| Feature | Conductor Monitoring | Profound Agent Analytics |
|---|---|---|
| What it watches | SEO and AEO issues, 24/7 | AI bot visits from your server logs |
| Alerts | Sends the right person an alert, ranked by business impact | No |
| History | Up to 60 months | Not public |
| Scale | 100,000 pages (Essentials), 500,000 (Growth) | Not public |
| AI bots | Monitor AI bot activity to see what gets crawled | Filters out fake bots and counts human visits from AI search |
| Connections | Part of the platform | Cloudflare, Vercel, AWS, Akamai, Fastly, Netlify, WordPress, Shopify and more |
Agent Analytics is part of Profound’s free trial, so you can test it before any sales call. To check one page for AI bot blocks right now, try the free AI crawler checker.
Conductor vs Profound content tools and agents
Neither tool leads on content. Conductor builds writing on its SEO data and Content Score, while Profound works from its AI answer data. Pick the one whose data you trust to guide the brief.
| Feature | Conductor | Profound |
|---|---|---|
| Writing tool | Conductor Creator with a Writing Assistant | AI Marketer drafts work for your approval |
| Draft limits | 60 a year (Essentials), 180 (Growth), 600 (Enterprise) | Uses credits |
| Scoring and guidance | Content Score, Content Profiles, internal link tips | Driven by AI answer data |
| Agents | Content Agent and Technical Agent (AgentStack) | Agents run saved workflows |
| API and MCP | Yes, in AgentStack | API access for Prompt Volumes (Enterprise) |
Profound’s AI Marketer finds work worth doing and drafts it for your approval. Context Manager feeds its Agents your brand facts. Each AI Marketer message and agent run uses credits.
